TikTok names senior Disney executive as its new chief

new Tik Tok CEO

Disney+ subscriber network executive, Kevin Mayer chairman of Direct to Consumer and International is leaving to go to Tik Toc. As Disney + executive he was responsible for getting them to 10 Million signups in the US and Canada in record time. The big reaction from everyone in the median the world was holy crap that’s a big number.

At Disney, he was responsible for acquiring its big brands Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic, and they are still strong.

Kevin Mayer will become CEO of Tik Tok and ByteDance, based in China, and who owns Tik Tok.

Tik Tok is incredibly popular with over 2 Billion users. There are questions, though, over how it will make money, and how the company will maintain the integrity of the content.

This is a double whammy for Disney whose parks have been closed to the past few months and now, the executive responsible for acquiring some of Disney’s most popular brands is gone.

Later this year the company will present how it is going to make money from the short-form video content.
